Tastes and Odours

Tastes and odours make your water unpleasant for drinking, cooking, bathing, or other uses.  Some tastes or odours may be an indication of something unsafe in the water.

Tastes or odours in water may be caused by chlorine, iron, manganese, sulphur compounds, or other contaminants.  Most of these can easily be removed by an automatic backwashing carbon filter or with carbon filter cartridges.

However, dissolved iron or manganese cannot be removed by filtration alone.  A special iron filter, which combines air injection and an automatic backwashing filter is highly effective at removing iron and manganese.  These special iron filter units also remove odour-causing sulphur compounds.

MacDonald Water Systems can help you identify the source of tastes or odours in your water.  For more detailed information or to place your order, go to contact us.
