About hardness
(or scale)

Hardness in water means the presence of calcium and magnesium minerals in your water.

These minerals leave scale deposits on your sinks, tableware, pots, piping, shower heads, coffee maker and kettle elements, hot water tank elements, etc.

Hardness also reacts with soap making it less effective for cleaning.

Your softener removes calcium and magnesium minerals (hardness) and replaces it with sodium or potassium.

Softened water will not form scale or react adversely with your soap.
