MacDonald Water Systems can help you choose specialty filter cartridges that meet your needs. Cartridges and their filter housing must be carefully selected to ensure a sufficient flow of water.

Carbon cartridges are used to remove chlorine, taste, odour, sediment, and other contaminants in your water. Some carbon cartridges are also suitable for removal of Cryptosporidium and Giardia cysts.

Sediment cartridges are used to remove dirt, turbidity, iron particles, and other solid material in your water. Sediment cartridges are rated by their “micron” size. Cartridges rated for 1 micron “absolute” are used to remove Cryptosporidium and Giardia cysts.

Filter cartridges must be replaced periodically. Although filter housings and cartridges are inexpensive to install, it is often cheaper in the long run to install automatic backwashing filter systems that are self-cleaning.
