Guidelines for safe Canadian drinking water have been established by the Federal Government.  Click here to see more detailed information on the government website.

The Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines provide maximum acceptable levels of various substances.  The guidelines are to ensure that Canadian drinking water is:

1.     Safe to drink because it doesn’t contain unacceptable levels of bacteria (E. coli and coliforms), protozoa (Cryptosporidium and Giardia), viruses, or chemicals that could cause disease or illness; and

2.     Aesthetically acceptable to consumers because of its lack of taste, colour, odour, hardness, or iron.
