Ultra Violet Sterilizers

Ultraviolet light treatment systems can destroy harmful microorganisms that cause disease or illness.  Water is passed through a chamber lit with ultraviolet light.  Nothing other than ultraviolet light is added to the water.

To disinfect water safely, microorganisms must be exposed to strong enough UV light for a long enough period.  Filtration of the water may be required first in order to prevent particles in the water from blocking the UV beam.  Pre-treatment to remove hardness, iron or other contaminants may also be required.

Class A UV systems provide 40,000 uwsec/cm2 and may be used to safely destroy microorganisms in contaminated water.

Class B UV systems only provide 16,000 uwsec/cm2 and can only be used on water that is already considered safe.
